Botulinum Toxin Comes as a Fine Powder

All Korean botulinum toxin brands — including Nabota, Meditoxin are shipped in freeze-dried powder form. The contents are vacuum-sealed inside the vial with a tiny amount of highly concentrated toxin powder at the bottom.

You might not see it with your eyes, but it’s there usually around 0.1 mg to 0.3 mg of white powder. That’s all it takes to make 50–100 units of botulinum once it’s reconstituted properly.

What You’re Supposed to Do: Reconstitute It

Before injecting, you’ll need to reconstitute the toxin with sterile saline (bacteriostatic sodium chloride 0.9%). The amount of saline you add depends on the desired units per mL. Most injectors use:

• 2.5 mL for more concentrated dosing
• 3 mL for balanced dosing
• 4 mL for softer, spread-out effect

Once mixed, gently roll the vial (don’t shake it hard), and draw up the amount needed. That’s when you’ll see the liquid form appear — not before.

Why It Looks Empty After Shipping

Sometimes the vial looks even more “empty” because of the melted ice pack. The toxin was still cold, but the insulation may not keep the ice frozen during transit. That’s okay!

These products are lyophilized (freeze-dried) and stable at room temperature for short periods including during shipping. As long as the vial isn’t broken or discolored and the powder hasn’t clumped due to moisture, it’s safe to use.

Because freeze-dried (lyophilized) toxins are stable at room temperature for a reasonable amount of time, especially in their unopened vial.

Why We Still Ship with Ice Packs

We include cold packs as a precaution not because your tox will go bad if it warms up during transit.

Here’s why:

• It reassures customers who expect cold packs.
• It adds a layer of temperature control in hot climates or during delays.
• It reflects our commitment to proper handling.

But if your pack arrives melted, don’t panic. That’s completely normal.

Is Warm = Bad?

Nope. Here’s the truth:

Clinical data and manufacturer guidance both show that lyophilized toxins can tolerate normal shipping conditions, even without ice, for several days and still remain effective.

The temperature risk is more relevant after you reconstitute the vial with saline. Once mixed, the product should be kept cold and used within the appropriate window.

Best Practices for Storage Once You Receive It

• Unopened vials: Keep at room temp or store in the fridge (2°C–8°C) either is fine short-term.
• After reconstitution: Keep refrigerated and use within 72 hours (unless the specific product says otherwise).
• Avoid freezing: Never freeze a vial after mixing.

What About Liquid Toxins Like Innotox?

Innotox is pre-diluted and comes as a liquid, not powder. It’s more temperature-sensitive, but even then, it’s been formulated to withstand some variation during shipping.

Still, we recommend refrigerating it immediately after delivery to maintain potency.

Final Word: Don’t Stress the Melted Ice
